Article Marketing is often overlooked as an “old school” method for attracting visitors to your site. In fact, it is just as powerful now as it ever was. The biggest factor to consider when creating your articles is to avoid the temptation to buy “canned” articles (otherwise known as PLR content) and publish them on your site as-is. Many thousands of other sites are publishing this same article. This will cause Google to slap you with a duplicate content penalty and will not be good for your website. Alter the articles in some way before publishing. The more unique your content, the better off you will be. Using PLR content is perfectly fine so long as you alter it to make it your own.
Think in terms of our conversation model. If you arrived at a cocktail party, you would make sure your comments were relevant to the conversation and added to the other participants’ experience. You probably wouldn’t download an article or joke off the internet and read it word-for-word to the guests; you would personalize it and make it your own. They would receive it as an outward expression of your own personality mixed in with the information or humor. Articles are the same way.
There are many nuances to article marketing which make it one of the most challenging marketing strategies to master. Nevertheless, article marketing remains one of the most effective marketing strategies available, in that the links tend to grow exponentially if built upon the correct framework. It’s not unlikely to receive over 300 links to your site from ONE article. Articles build authority in your niche. Articles work for you (or against you, if done improperly) day in and day out, and we highly recommend this strategy for most businesses.
