Video Marketing
Video sharing sites like Youtube, Google Video and others are exploding with growth. Google purchased Youtube, which is a clue as to where Google thinks this “video thing” is going. Some estimates cite video search volume at 70% of all the search volume online. Video marketing still requires some finesse in terms of targeting the videos properly and creating actionable steps in the video file and the page content to get relevant visitors to see the video, and for Google to reward it with good ranking; one could not expect to post a video on Youtube and instantly receive a flood of visitors to their site. There is strategy and nuance, as with everything else in online marketing. If you own a business, video should definitely be part of your overall strategy.
Here are some tips to get the most out of your video marketing:
- Decide ahead of time what you’re going to talk about. Some work best with a script, but most people will prefer to “wing it.”
- Keep the videos simple and on topic
- Link back to the relevant page on your site — not the home page.
- Be sure to include a call to action — ask that the viewer do something at the close of the video. You might even include an incentive to entice them to act.
- Have fun!
We have personally seen sites jump to top position in minutes using video, and that is still possible but not as common anymore. Video is not THE tool in your arsenal, but it is a mighty one.
